Below is a video providing advice on how to begin playing tabletop roleplaying games.

On Dice Notation

Most tabletop roleplaying games(ttrpg) use a standard form of dice notion, #d#. The first number is the number of die required for a roll, so 3d# will require 3 dice to be rolled while 1d# will only require 1 die to be rolled. The second number refers to the number of sides on the die, 1d6 would then be a single 6-sided die while 2d10 would be 2 10-sided dice. Usually when only a single die is needed for a roll the first number will be omitted, so d8 on its own means that you need to roll an 8-sided die. The one big exception to these rules is D%, usually refered to as D-percentile, this means that you need to roll a 100-sided die however due to the fact that 100-sided die are uncommon you can roll 2d10 with one d10 acting as the 1's place and the other acting as the 10's place instead.
