Too often people try to get into tabletop gamming and are turned away by sheer volume of games available or an inability to find people to play with them. This site seeks to introduce people to the types of tabletop games, what is needed to play tabletop games, and how to find people to play tabletop games with. This first page is primarily a broad explanation of what tabletop games are and some resources to to help people start out in the hobby.

What is a Tabletop Game?

Tabletop Games are any game that is played on a flat surface, like a table. Tabletop games come in a variety of forms, from figurine based games played on chess boards to roleplaying games that only require dice roles, the most common types of tabletop games are boardgames, games played on a premade surface, and card games. Tabletop games of one kind or another have been found as far back as ancient egypt.

With thousands of board games and an uncountable number card games the average person can feel a bit intimidated when trying to make tabletop gaming a hobby. The first step, as with any hobby, is to figure out what kind of games do you actually want to play, do you want to get into playing card games, board games, trading card games, or even roleplaying games. Once you figure out what you want to get into it is simply a matter of finding the materials to play the game and people to play with you. Most gaming stores have weekly or monthly events for board games, card games, and roleplaying games.
